Director's Message
As the new Director of the Blazers, I would like to wish you all a successful and enjoyable season on the pitch. Your new executive has been working hard all winter to ensure our program continues to enjoy a continued success for all involved. You will also notice that we have changed our name to the ‘Seaway Valley Blazers', to better illustrate the area we represent.
This season, the Blazers will field teams in Division One, Premier, and Regional levels within the Eastern Region Soccer League. We have also introduced a new boys team at the U-10 level. This team will play on micro-sized fields. We are pleased to announce the addition of this team, and the opportunity it will provide for younger players to compete at a higher level.
Like any progressive club, the Blazers are continuously looking to improve and expand. Our focus is on the four main elements of the game of soccer - players, coaches, facilities, and officials. We will continue to focus on skills development with our players, as well as an emphasis on speed, agility, and conditioning. This year we shall continue to offer personalized training for all our players and coaches to work on our fitness and conditioning with a qualified trainer. All of our dedicated coaches and assistant coaches will have obtained their Levels from 1 to 3 of the required coaching certification before the 2008 season starts. This will assist our coaches to develop and train all players to the best of his/her ability. We are also working with the Seaway Valley Soccer Club's Executive to improve and expand local facilities so that our players can play on the best possible fields. Last, but not least, we are partnering with other soccer groups to train officials, and provide support and opportunities for development
This year, the clubs mandate is to focus on improving and expanding our soccer program for the Seaway Valley. This summer, the Blazers will hire a past graduate from the Blazer program as a summer student who is pursuing his/her post secondary studies. This employee will assist the club and coaches with administrative tasks throughout the summer. He or she will also hold the Head Referee portfolio. Also, this spring, the Executive will hold an information session for new and returning parents and players, which is scheduled for March 08, 2008 at the Cornwall Civic Complex at 10:00 am. Also, we will be holding our tryouts for our 2009 season in the fall of 2008, outdoors, weather permitting, using the Kinsmen and Optimist fields. Your coach will be able to provide you with more precise information at a later date. This assembly will help maintain the Club's philosophy of accountability, credibility, and transparency.
